Packing List

Holy guacamole. Packing. Let’s just all say f&^k together. Don’t get me wrong, the irony, ridiculousness, and stupidity of packing is not lost on me. Here I am stressing myself out to pack the “cute” outfits on vacay, when in reality I don’t know a damn person (besides mom) in Punta Cana, and the whole point of going is to relax. Hey, maybe if I stress myself out before I leave, it will make vacation seem that much more relaxing. Plus, how am I supposed to post that Instagram-worthy vacation picture without the perfect outfit? Stupid. But here I am in all my glory packing, thinking I am a bit of a hypocrite. However, the first step is admitting I have a problem. Right…?

Anyway, on to packing! Below are some of the items/outfits I’m taking and where I got them. I will admit I am a bargain shopper and prefer to buy things on sale, it just makes me feel better. I also really enjoy shopping, so I spend a lot of time looking at clothes and keeping my eyes out for deals. A lot of sales are for items in the off-season, which I am not opposed to especially if something is really cute!

Ah, swimsuits. The main event. I like to mix and match, buy plain bottoms and lots of tops. That way you get more bang for your buck. Multiple looks without the cost and fewer pieces to have to pack. I found so many cute suits this year online at American Eagle, the Aerie collection (tons of sales, too!). I love this blue suit with the stripes, it’s feminine and sweet with ruffles and bow straps (you tie the straps, so can make them as long or short as you need). I also require a bandeau top for tanning. I got this one from the Aerie collection, the bottoms are part of another suit set from Cupshe.com. Not pictured, but I also found a couple cute tops from balticborn.com that I will pair with my plain black swim bottoms.

Beach time! I got this top because I know I’ll wear it after vacation (I got it in yellow, too). It is also from the Aerie collection, and I believe it was on sale. It’s long and light and flowy, perfect for the beach. I don’t have a specified beach cover up, so this top is up to bat, with or without the shorts. I also love these sandals, they go with everything and they were about $13 at Ross.

I think this will be my favorite outfit ever! For adventuring or the beach. Or drinks. Ya know, whatever is calling us in that moment. I got this top from Target, and got my mom a matching one. It sums up our vacay motto . I typically have a hard time with shorts because I hate tight things on my legs and have always been self conscious about my thighs. But, I love these shorts because they’re cute and pretty comfy. This pair is from balticborn.com, however I think I got the last pair. I did find some denim shorts that I want to order from vicicollection.com (lot’s of insta bloggers have codes for this site) that are similar to this style. In an effort to expand my denim short game, I ordered some shorts from Target that will hopefully be similar, too.

Dinna time. This outfit could be worn to the beach, but I’ll probably wear it to dinner. A plain tank from Walmart (less than $4), and an American Eagle sale skirt. I loved this skirt because it has some tie dye vibes, its flowy, and it’s got sass. Its a high-low skirt with a little bit of a ruffle to the hem. Simple and cute. Depending on my mood, I’l l either pair it with sandals or wedges. Since it’s a pretty simple look there’s lots of opportunity for accessorizing.

As important as the clothes I pack, are the accessories and skincare goodies I bring along. These cute bow scrunchies are an easy, practical accessory from therollinj.com. The headbands are older, I think the white one came from Francesca’s and the blue one from Forever 21. As for the skincare products, I am a Mary Kay consultant and have been using MK products for years, so that’s where my lineup comes from. I love their summer products, and will be using the Subtle Tanning Lotion (orange bottle) this week to add a little color to my legs (don’t want to scare everyone on day 1). When we actually start hitting the beach I think the Sun Care After-Sun Replenishing Gel (blue bottle) will be my best friend. I plan on getting some sun and a tan, but want to make sure I’m hydrating my skin as well. Always in my travel kit, is my day-to-day skincare routine. I recently switched over to the TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm set (foaming cleanser, tone correcting serum, eye renewal cream, and night/day cream with SPF). I am also throwing in some of my ClearProof products because who wants to deal with breakouts on vacay? Last but not least, my Soothing Eye Gel will be coming along. I envision there being some hangovers, so no better way to recover than with some eye gel. I love my Mary Kay products, and wouldn’t want to travel without them.

Well, I should probably finish packing. Maybe not finish, but at least make it so I can walk through my bedroom. Or sleep on my bed. Those are good places to start. May need a beer to help motivate me…

Cheers!
